John Mini French Garden Oasis project

Background

If you've ever seen a gorgeous landscape, living wall, or atrium in NYC, there's a good chance you've seen the outstanding work of the John Mini team. John Mini has designed and built award-winning indoor and outdoor landscapes in the tristate area for over 40 years. So, when John Mini came to Hudson in need of a website revamp, we were determined to create a website that reflected the beauty, creativity, and vibrancy of the firm's work.

The Details

Before working with Hudson, John Mini's website was mostly black with a few, small images. Based on photos of the firm's work and and interviews with their clients, we pinpointed the John Mini brand as professional, bold, and colorful. With this lively direction in mind, we incorporated ample white space, bright colors, and modern fonts into the brand styles. In an effort to re-energize John Mini's brand messaging to match the vivid design, we also came up with a new tagline: “Be Bold. Be Distinct.”

The Website

The redesigned John Mini website bursts with color and personality — it truly feels alive. From the fonts, colors, and images to the bold messaging, it is clear that John Mini is anything but average.

HOMEPAGE DESIGN

We worked with the John Mini team to figure out how to best communicate the firm's varied offerings right on the homepage. We started by incorporating the new tagline, "Be Bold. Be Distinct." at the top of the page followed by the company's value proposition and primary service offerings.

From there, we created a unique photo grid to strategically showcase the high definition photos provided by our client. The grid is broken down by service type for ease of navigation and optimal UX.

Projects Showcase

One of the most important elements of a show-stopping landscaping website is a large and varied portfolio. One of the issues with the old John Mini website is that the work was showcased through standalone images that lacked overarching narratives.

For the "Projects" section of the new website, we built two primary templates: "Project Spotlights" for comprehensive case studies and standard project detail pages to showcase multiple images for any given project. The Project Spotlight template was designed to give users in-depth look at how a project was created, as well as to help the John Mini team tell an image-heavy story. Together, the templates provide flexibility by allowing for as much or as little detail as desired per project. The Projects section can also be easily sorted by service type so users can browse the projects most relevant to their needs.

The Results

We were tasked with building a unique landscaping website that would immerse users in the beauty and detail of the work. Every element of John Mini's new website highlights the firm's services, creativity, talent, and culture to create a cohesive and engaging brand experience. The website has been successful in attracting new clients and generating leads, and continues to set the standard as one of the best landscaping websites in the industry.
